Great, little known psych lp, Daybreak from Pearl River, New York (upstate NY) released in 1971 on RPC Records. Apparently there were only 400 COPIES of this made! Talk about limited, since this is 33 years old it's unlikely that too many copies of this will show up any time soon. I'm not sure if this has ever been listed on ebay before. This fuzz filled masterpiece is full of psych/garage mania, but also reminds me a little of the Gandalf in it's quieter moments, which are not many, but enough so the comparison feels right. Seven songs total, a Steppenwolf cover (sort of a suite with "Monster", "Suicide" and "America"), Neil Young's "Down By The River", "Nights In White Satin" and "Rock Around The Clock" (done in a more '50s style and most shambolic), but the best stuff is the three original songs, "Can't Get Down", "(I'm Only) Half Here" and "Alone Again" all written by the bands bassist, Vince Seplesky. Great psych feel overall and even "Fuzz, Acid & Flowers" doesn't have any real info on this classic!...
Heavy, blurryly recorded psychedelic blues-rock with an organ overloaded with vocals from New York. Extraordinary versions of other people's hits and their crazy stuff like "Monster Suicide America"
In 1974, there was another album, but not yet caught....

Out-Sider present the first ever vinyl reissue of Daybreak's self-titled album, originally released in 1971. This elusive US private pressing was originally released on the legendary RPC custom label. Intense and crude garage-psych with echoing vocals, loud distorted guitar, fuzz bass, and organ. Three killer band originals plus some insane cover versions (Steppenwolf, Neil Young) with a basement sound not unlike Mystic Siva. Remastered sound; Includes insert with liner notes and photos. ....

Reissued on CD, this is one of the rarest garage/psych albums ever recorded. Daybreak, a Pearl River, New York High School band, recorded this album in 1971, in an old town church over the course of just five hours. Featuring both cool originals and tough cover versions of Neil Young's 'Down By The River', Bill Haley's 'Rock Around The Clock', and The Moody Blues' 'Nights In White Satin', original copies on RPC Records nowadays fetch up to $3.000 in the collectors' world. ......
