A band who’s music is very difficult to put a label on. I would call it prog rock mainly because they put so many different influences together.
Of course you also get some funk influences since this was recorded in the 70’s!
This album is not released on CD and there has been talk for over 10 years about this being released, but so far nothing has materialized.
So I got this on vinyl and now offer it to my fellow music lovers here! ….
A student at Swarthmore College outside of Philadelphia, Kitty Brazelton in 1972 with Tom Stephenson (drums, cello), Caille Colburn (harp), Dave Clark (bass and percussion), Susan Gelletly (keyboards), Bill Pastuszek (saxophone). and Jim Kelly (electric guitar).

In 1973, Pastuszek and Kelly left for graduate schools, and the group became a quintet. 

In 1974 Musica Orbis began to play with Group Motion, a Philadelphia dance troupe. From that association, gigs in small coffeehouses and art centers and assiduous hand-addressed mailing campaign, the band developed a strong following throughout greater Philadelphia. 

In 1975, Musica Orbis started to play in Boston and New York, where their concerts were reviewed in the Boston Phoenix, Billboard and the New York Times. See the flyers for The Coming of May, Sanders Theater, Cambridge MA. and Back in the Air at WBAI’s Free Music Store. Also see New Yorker listing for M.O. appearances at CBGB’s in 1976 where late punk rocker Joey Ramone sat in the front row to hear them. 

Musica Orbis continued to concertize up and down the East Coast through the release of 1977 “To The Listeners”, distributed by Rounder Records. After the LP’s release, the band began to tour nationally, playing twenty-five states, travelling in caravan with a mobile home, cook/road manager, sound and lights. Original member keyboardist Susan Gelletly left in 1977 and was replaced by pianist Bob Loiselle and later, guitarist Bill Mauchly. 
“To The Listeners” was well and widely received, opening doors that had hitherto not been open to an undefinable semi-classical, semi-folk, jazz-aspiring, rock-experienced “fusionist quintet” as the press liked to call Musica Orbis. Brazelton remembers “playing in the midwest and night after night being lifted by standing ovations and encores. It was thrilling to be able to communicate that way.” 

By 1979 the stresses of being on the road had started to wear the band’s morale down. Members had other dreams to pursue. Aftera season of farewell concerts, Musica Orbis disbanded. ….
