Peter French “Ducks In Flight” 1978 UK Melodic Hard Rock

Peter French “Ducks In Flight” 1978 UK Melodic Hard Rock
The only solo album Peter French’s, vocalist of rock group «Leaf Hound», «Big Bertha», «Atomic Rooster», «Cactus», «Randy Pie». The album helped Peter Mick Halls (ex- «Leaf Hound»), Brian Robertson (ex- «Thin Lizzy»), Micky Moody (ex- «Whitesnake»), Tim Hinkley (ex- «Jody Grind»), Kenny Jones (ex- «Faces») …..
A solid album but as with most of these journeyman solo efforts, not amazing. There was a good supporting band, Drums - Kenny Jones (ex faces), Drums - Henry Spinetti, Lead Guitar - Brian Robertson (ex Thin Lizzy), Slide Guitar - Mick Moody (ex Whitesnake), Rhythm - Mick Halls, Bass - Dave Marquee,  Piano - Tim Hinkley (ex Jody Grind), Banjo - Joe Brown, Sax - Raphael Ravenscroft.

It’s a mostly dated mix of good-time boogie rock, blues and ballads. There is a stab at a contemporary AOR sound with the hard rocking ‘Give Me Your Love’, and one of the most interesting tracks is the countrified (thanks to Joe Brown’s banjo)  "Goodbye Jesse".

Of novelty value to French fans and worth a listen, although while his singing does the job here, I have heard him in better voice on earlier (and later) efforts, including the live shows he still occasionally plays with the recent version of Leaf Hound…..
