"Doc Kirby & Co." was organized in 1972 by two musicians - guitarist Smith Vinson and keyboardist Larry Morgan. The group mainly performed in clubs and concert venues in Memphis. The creativity of the guys drew the attention of Sam Philips, one of the co-owners of the local company Sun Records and offered to record a single, which was successfully recorded in 1973. The single "High On Lovin" was often performed on local radio stations. By the middle of 1973, the band had recruited material for a full-fledged disc, and in the same year 1973 the self-titled album was released, as it turned out to be the only one.
