Karelia “Suomi Pop” 1971 Finland Hippie Psych Folk

Karelia   “Suomi Pop” 1971 Finland Hippie  Psych Folk
full
Rare and strange finnish psych folk albums by Paroni Paakkunainen and Jazz guru Edward Vesala. Actually this is taking Finnish Folk music as a base and turning it into a wild mix of tribal Progressive with blitzes of Fuzz Guitar and heavy Acid Leads, weird percussion, violin, flutes and off beat vocals.. The players are: Armas Nukarainen (Seppo ‘Paroni’ Paakkunainen), flute, violin, soprano saxophone; Aslak Nunnu (Ilpo Saastamoinen), guitar; Pedri Sirmakka (Pekka Sarmanto) bass; Iivana Nyhtänköljä (Edward Vesala), drums, vocals.Don’t miss them!………..

A common case of don’t believe everything you read on the web!…

A lot of that is right, and some interesting credit info there. But I didn’t hear any “tribal Progressive with blitzes of Fuzz Guitar and heavy Acid Leads” as maybe it was all too foreign and went way over my head? Largely this sounded like some twisted folk album, all pretty demented and quite theatrical, and seemingly a concept that’s obviously lost in translation. A curio, but one to hear before you buy I think……by….ultimathulerecords……..
The legendary Karelia band from Paroni Paakkunainen, Edward Vesala, Ilpo Saastamoinen and Pekka Sarmona recorded in 1971 two Finland Pop albums. In the spring and summer of 1971, the first albums were the most popular record albums in our country. In Finland, Pop band played Finnish folk songs as beat-inspired arrangements. Now, these two albums as well as singlings from 1971 will be released as one of the 30 CD releases. The release includes all the production of the original Karelia band. The 12-page cover booklet of the collection includes the words written by Paroni Paakkunainen and Ilpo Saastamoinen……………….
