Bichos de Candy  "“Basura” 1970 very rare Argentina Psych Rock
full
The group "Bichos de Candy" was born to the musical life of the city of Santa Fe in August 1968.
The first contacts are between Perico Fissore and Pedro Céliz, who were commonly crossed in the studies of LT10 and LT9, wanted to form a group of rock ... When acting in Bambina, Perico contacts Ricardo Cáceres and Carlos Mérida who played in the group Stable of the bambina dancing confectionery Bambina, a drum was missing and Pedro recommends Guillermo Gervasoni, with whom they had shared a brief passage by the group "Them" and that at that moment was moderately unoccupied. The rehearsals begin in the house of Perico and begins to choose the name ... as a habitué of the rehearsals was a musician friend, Bicho Carabajal, -musician and DJ of Bambina- arises the idea of the name, a little in jest , A little seriously ... they become ... "The Bugs".
In the month of September they travel to play in the patronage celebrations of General Deheza Cordovan town where Carlos Mérida was born. They perform for four intense days, together with the orchestra "Los Cuervos" of the city of Rio Cuarto, its director, pleasantly surprised by its sound, invites them to act in the television riocuartense.

On returning and seeing that the group worked very well they continue with the project beginning to act in the dance confectionery "Candy" of recent inauguration and very fashion, located in the basement of the "El Cabildo" brewery.
Although they begin to test for a Saturday, the following week they become the central group to play Friday, Saturday and Sunday afternoons and evenings. This work regime leads to intense training as they should renew their repertoire permanently. At that time, the first change of members took place, Carlos Mérida returns to Bambina with the group "Tino's Combo" and Bichos enters Carlos Joannas who was with Tino Faggiolani, - today Tino Geiser. A coke in which everyone agreed and agreed.

This work lasted until the end of 1969, when they began to think (not without fear), to take flight to enter the market of clubs and neighborhood dances that at that time was abundant and gave work to many orchestras and small groups, most Of cumbia, although they were imposing themselves of the music "beat". These clubs were Sergeant Cabral, Ferroviario, Union and Progress of Villa Maria Selva, Villa Dora ... etc,

Without forgetting important clubs of nearby cities ... Having been so long in Candy naturally gives them the definitive name of "Bichos de Candy", when you wanted to hire them so they were called, the feeling of ownership of both parties was very strong , So much so that the meeting place of the group was the "El Cabildo" (the original Salta and cut bustamante, exactly on Candy confectionery), his telephone was often the contact to locate the group or any of its members .
To begin this new type of works they decide to join a representative of orchestras, the recognized "fat" Oscar Kuntz, with him, work all the summer 69/70, crossing all the scenes of the city and several of towns and cities of the province .

For the carnivals of 1970 they get 6 nights in Ferroviario, two in Laguna Paiva and two in the Regattas Club, a true marathon ... considering that in the dances of the time it was necessary to make two or three presentations per night. The result was a remarkable economic success, the next step and taking advantage of economic freedom was to try luck in Buenos Aires.

Before that carnival, Perico Fissore married ...

At that time they had also established a relationship with a man of the media, Daniel Doce, who was distributor of the record label "Odeón"
One day in early March 1970, they traveled to Buenos Aires to play in the program "Mengueche vale todo" of the so-called omnibus that was every Sunday afternoon by channel 2 of La Plata. The technicians recorded the live performance where they played "Oh Darling" and gave us the tape. On Monday, Daniel Doce took Odeón the "demo" with such good luck that the producers of modern music needed a group that specifically recorded that theme since some time they had hoped to launch that theme in simple, there was only the version Of The Beatles on the album "Abey Road".

When Daniel Doce returned to the hotel where they were staying the following Monday afternoon, he said that the following morning the contract was signed with "EMI-ODEON" and on Wednesday they recorded "Oh Darling" and on Friday the B face of the simple, Sad city ", a theme composed by Perico, the members of the group could not believe.

Not only for recording but for doing it on the label of the very fabulous four ... The recordings succeeded, the representatives changed since the group settled in The Capital (with a few hardships). In April the album was presented at a party in Candy where Odeon personalities such as Francisco Cantilo, Tulio de Rose, Gianfranco Pagliaro, the head of diffusion, and others were present. Memorable night that had as guests to the group "The Slender Grass Group", that same night was contracted by Odeón for its template of Rock.

On May 4, 1970, the group left to settle in Buenos Aires. Long time of much work of recording since it began to prepare the material of an LP, in that included four subjects of The Beatles and seven of Joannas and one of Fissore. At the time and after participating in about six cuts of the disc, Perico retires of the group with the possibility to travel to Europe that began to be a magnet for the musicians of that generation.
The ensemble continued as a quartet, completing the LP that came out in October 1970. While trying to subsist in the big city .. work was not plentiful and despite being in a very famous agency of representatives were not a central number to sell too .

In that year 70 was completed the LP "Garbage" where was precisely the subject of McCartney with that name, while the agency of Jose Angel Rota - representative of groups such as "Blue Caps", "The Barbarians" and soloists like Paxi Andión and Actors of the stature of Alain Delón, little could get for Bichos de Candy, Although the sale of the simple one was good the one of the LP was not it so much ... the diffusion by the engraver seal was practically null, it was done in personal form taking the disc to as much radio program was listened, well to "Oh Sweetheart "Hugo Guerrero Martineitz, Cacho Fontana, Leo Rivas, Indio Suarez etc ... but that spread was not enough in the big city to have two or three shows at the weekends.

Nevertheless something was done and the group played - at the inauguration - of boliches like Bubbles ... top of the north neighborhood, Nino in Olivos, El Tucan in the center. By then the group lived in a very modest hotel "familiar" of the area of Plaza Italia - La Toja - of some very good Galicians and enduring in every sense, Where they came to duty up to four months of rent and even rehearsed in the room, this hotel was half a block from the apartment of a well-known Uruguayan group ... "Kano and Los Bulldog", very good people and dear companions with whom they had Friendship was established when in 69 they had played in Candy.
In an opportunity Los Bullgogs made efforts to go play in Colonia and Juan Lacase, Uruguay. There was also a tour of Mendoza and San Juan, another to Cordoba ... at the end of 70 there was no prospect of improving the situation, the carnival was still the bonus of the musicians and for the group did not appear anything, only one of their Members got a replacement for that week in the "bass piringundines" A series of wretched cabarets that stood side by side on 25 de Mayo Street between Viamonte and Cordoba. That work was prolonged in time and he was able to go taking the others to touch and to earn the daily sustenance.

At the beginning of the 71 some things changed, Ricardo Cáceres retires of the group by familiar questions incorporating itself in time to another group santafesino, "Manteca". Jorge Polo Pereira takes his place, Uruguayan, starting a new course in the way of work. In May the drummer of "Los Bichos", married then there was a certain dispersion only lived in La Toja, Guillermo Gervasoni and Pedro Celiz. The trials became more sporadic, Added to the economic difficulties and the scarce interest of the record label - despite recording several more themes - were generating a rather dark panorama for "Los Bichos". At one point the recording company intended that the group recorded an issue that, in addition to not liking, would eventually transform it into a commercial group.
The change took place after the change of representative agency, they went to the offices of Héctor Rouco who had been the great representative of the Uruguayan group "The Shakers". This fresh air was projected in the change of seal happening to the newly initiated Microphone.

With this agency, the work improved a lot, they toured Córdoba, La Rioja, Catamarca, province of Buenos Aires, Santa Fe. At the same time they continued working in the lower Buenos Aires, Where they sometimes played together sometimes separated. In that place came a theme that would later be recorded in Microphone, "I know that I love you", a very simple and selling topic but with little diffusion ... with that song the group tried to achieve work in a wider commercial circuit ... Neither did it.

At the beginning of the 72 a contract was obtained for the carnivals in a restaurant of the Pan-American that also had cinema where musical films were passed, anticipation of what today would be the videos.

At the end of this work things became more unstable, Carlos Joannas decides to travel to Europe in company of the group "Los No" of Rosario, Pedro Céliz joins "Manteca" who had arrived in Buenos Aires to record in Microphone.
Guillermo Gervasoni was left alone with Polo Pereira, who tried unsuccessfully to continue with the group, testing people for the deserted places, for which they passed a Uruguayan bass player Former Totem, Urbano, Nito Chabaneau, former Paraná Pepper, Kano, ex Los Bulldogs. It never came to develop anything, even living together for some time in the house of Polo in Paso del Rey.

In August of '72 we could say that the project was terminated, interest was scarce, Guillermo returned to Santa Fe with his wife and his newborn son, after a short time also Pedro returned to find himself in the Virgo group.

Ricardo "EL Mono" Cáceres also returned to Santa Fe in 1972. Together with other important groups of the same generation, and the contribution of the young sap of "Astro Bonzo" ... And that was incredible ... especially for the members of "Bichos de Candy" ... after only 40 Years ... stepped on stage, together again ...! There were some meetings ... change of opinions ... barbecues talks through ... but also something very strong ... "you win" ... And they decided to return to the arena ...
