Sword "No Remains"1983 Swiss Prog Symphonic

Sword  "No Remains"1983 Swiss Prog Symphonic

Unknown, early-80's Swiss band, discovered and promoted by the short-lived Musk Project label of C.B. Busser.Sword were Leo Buchs (bass, vocals), Gerhard Schär (guitar, vocals), James Schenk (lead vocals) and Heinz Schmid (drums), while the three first also played keyboards.''No remains'' is not what you'd call a prime example of 80's Prog, but falls smoothly within the lines of bands such as Antares, Audite or Taurus, performing a period Symphonic Rock with pompous arrangements, characterized by the effect-sounding synth lines and the marching, groovy guitar work, quite standard for all North-European acts of the time. They tried to add some heavier overtones at moments and deliver a much more rhythmic sound in order to create an epic atmosphere, but apparently they did not have tha talent to compete with the best bands of the style.Nevertheless their music breezes passion and energy and, while not complex at all, manages to deliver some very good vibes with sparkling synthesizers and dramatic guitar work.Vocals are a bit too melodramatic as well, but fit well with the music.A pretty decent curio from year ............
