Rashomon "Our Constitutional Rights" 1971 羅生門 – 日本国憲法 平和 自由 愛 Japan Psych Pop Rock (feat Kuni Kawachi -The Happenings Four, Flower Travellin' Band)
Rashomon. A project formed by Kuni Kawachi after the break-up of The Happenings Four. Their first album, “日本国憲法”, (released in September 1971) was recorded using studio musicians and the group was only formed later for promotional work and gigs. The members of the live group included Pepe Yoshihiro (bass, from The Happenings Four), Paul Yukawa (vocals, guitar), Haruo Chikada, and Junichi Kanazawa (drums). Rashomon’s second album, “Indian”, was also recorded using session musicians, with only Yukawa from the live group participating on vocals….~
In 1971, the famous “Japan Constitution” famous as the most strange concept album born in the Japanese New Rock era, the long-awaited first CD conversion!
I put the Constitution on a melody and finish it as a soft rock & progression sound.
Because it is now 44 years later, it can be said that it is a work to be heard by Japanese citizens
Rashomon joined the Nikkei Hawaiian’s Paul Lee (enrolled at The Half Breed enrolled) with an outstanding singing ability, formed in 1971 by Yoshihiro Pepei who was also active as The Happening’s Four It was a band and I was playing at the same name shop in Akasaka “Rashomon”. In September I released the first album “Constitution of Japan”, in January 1972 I released the second album “Indian, Choose Red Than Death”, but there were no outstanding results in the so-called Hakoban center activities and short-term It disappeared between. There is a description that “Kuni Kawachi formed a group” on the net, etc., but that is a mistake.
The album ‘Constitution of Japan’ sang the Constitution from Chapter 1 to Chapter 10. At the time, it was a planned work by the idea of a mouth (Tabu Hajime / present Wahaha Honpo president) who was involved in the composition of the mop’s concert production and television program “Geba Gaba 90 minutes”, and the jacket is credited with “composition.” In arranging and composing, he was a leader of Happening for Four, Kuni Kauchi who was ripe in work as a composer and arranger.
From here, “abandonment of war” was single-cut (coupling was “emperor”), and on late-night broadcasting of radio it was popular with many requests.
Although this work has been completely ignored from the history of rock in Japan for many years, in recent years it has become highly valued as a concept album and also from the viewpoint of Soft Rock and Progress. Therefore, the analog board soaring, it is just a long-awaited CD. (Sammy Maeda) …~
What once was such a wonderful record! The main board excavated from VOLTAGE RECORDS, presided over by Samy Maeda, a leading guru of Japanese New Rock, was released in 1971 by the band “Rashomon” formed by The Happening for For Peper Yoshihiro, A magnificent concept album that summarized the first chapter to ten chapters of the Japanese Constitution as lyrics into one piece. It is not just an intervention, but Paul · Lee (The Half Breed) for vocals, Kono Haru parent (Kusuda Haruo) as a keyboard, Kuni Kawachi as a composer / arranger, and all music pieces by powerful members are wonderful. It can be said that it is exactly a phantom masterpiece of Soft Rock / Lounge Music. As with <Peace, Freedom, Love> in the subtitle, I positively present the idea of the Japanese Peace Constitution as a rock. The current administration seems to be rushing for constitutional amendment, but I just hope that this highest rock constitution will not be the past….~
