Icebound , the third album of Not a Good Sign , is officially released today, 5 May 2018. Still produced by Marcello Marinone, with this album the band changes its approach again and creates a more complex album, ambitious and at times abstract. As in the past, the concept album road is not covered, even if the topics dealt with tend to bind to each other, creating a homogeneous and tormented narrative scenario. The presence of Gian Marco Trevisan on guitar, here at the first participation with the band in the studio after a series of live concerts, moves the guitar sound towards a less angular direction than previously. Furthermore, Trevisan takes over half of the sung parts, contributing to diversify the vocal contribution. Finally, he signs the composition of one of the pieces, while the rest are composed by the keyboardist Paolo «Ske» Botta.

Other novelties are the attention to the groove, the occasional processing of the drum sounds until it becomes almost electronic and the inclusion in large part of the violin, played by the host Eloisa Manera (Artchipel Orchestra, Progenesi). Another illustrious guest is David Jackson (VDGG), the wind in the long and multiform "Trapped In”, perhaps the song that most of all comes close to the style of the classic “suite” so dear to the prog. Antonio De Sarno has oversaw the texts, which as in the past are entirely in English, also contributing to the creation of the text for the song “Truth”.

The band will present the album with a new lineup without Calandriello and percussionist Pacho Rossi ( Alphataurus , Karma) on May 5th at Casa di Alex - Milan, thus renewing the now traditional concert-release party.

Having undertaken the road of self-production, the band decided to distribute the album mainly in digital format. However, he also created a limited edition CD with 500 numbered copies, autographed and with a very special processing of the external case, which makes it visually “icy”. This decidedly laborious process has been applied by hand by the band members themselves, helping to diversify every copy that becomes so in some way unique….Hamelin Prog….~
