German-spanish prog-rock band from the first 70’s, an evolution from The Vampires: in 1969 producer Artur Mas thought this name more “modern” and progressive… Members: Det Ferring (vocals, piano), Wolfgang Jünger (bass), Micky Kluge (drums), Paul Waldhecker (sax, clarinet, guitar) and Tony Ponce (guitar). Later Paul Waldhecker was replaced by T. J. Brown (organ). …~

This S/T album from 1970 was the only LP made by this short-lived band. Apparently these guys were from Spain and Germany and they were active for a couple of years in Spain. Although this album doesn’t include anything mind blowing it’s still a pretty solid effort from the start to the finish.

The only song which I don’t like here is the album closer “You Don’t Love Me Baby” which includes some annoying horns. But apart from that one track the material is more or less good and enjoyable. Their King Crimson cover “21st Century Schizoid Man” is pretty interesting. Overall this record gets 3,5 stars from me but that’s definitely the highest rating I could give to it. Four stars would definitely be too much….by…CooperBolan …~

Evolution initially arrived in Spain from Germany as beat/soul band Los Vampires, who overtime changed direction, lost members and regrouped at the end of the decade in Barcelona to become the cities hottest soul act. When the psych-prog boom took off influences such as Santana, Spirit, King Crimson, Traffic and Blood, Sweat & Tears also began to play a crucial part in their sound. The band originals combined incredible psych-rock dance floor fillers - notably ‘Dr. Vazquez’ - which were packed with fuzz guitar, Hammond and Det Ferring’s impressive vocals, with more introspective rock. From 1970 Is Another One Of The Most Sought-After Records From Spain’s Rock Heritage. This effort are including 4 bonus tracks and 2 covers on King Crimson 21st Century Schizod Man and In the Court of King Crimson….ProgNotFrog….~
