Moonstruck quickly morphed into a tight progressive outfit playing small live gigs in the region. However, without a recording contract, the group privately recorded/pressed these 13 tracks at Solar Audio & Recording (*SAR) studios in Halifax, composing all their own tracks, self-producing and self-financing the effort on their own “Lunatunes” label, reportedly pressing only around 500 copies….~

Canadians, progressive utterly. They, most likely, come from the English part of Canada, and not from Quebec, beloved by all of us, but still extremely good and original. In general, they are close to the Canterburyans, somewhere over half of all compositions are short-term numbers with a flute at the head, the flutist is truly phenomenal, and all lovers of playing this instrument will get real pleasure. Some flute plays are more active, some are melodic and beautiful, but the skill of the musicians is always at their best, and their strong jazz roots can be traced. In many ways, the team recalled the Germans HAX CEL, the same strong use of the flute. The rest of the compositions are an interesting high-speed jazz-rock, sometimes the guitar sound hints at Alan Holdsworth’s Igginbottom Wrench’s English team, but the sound is rather peculiar. The result was a little-known, but very strong album of a flute symphoprog with a Canterbury flair, I think everyone will like it the same way as me. ELPfan….~
