As Cream’s “fourth member,” Felix Pappalardi was already a rock legend by the time he founded Mountain in 1969. Having enjoyed worldwide success with them, in 1973 he departed to collaborate with Japanese rockers Creation. This superb live set at the Ebbets Field club in Denver, Colorado, on July 30, 1976, was broadcast on KCUV-FM shortly after the release of their first album together, and includes contemporary material as well as an epic 20-minute rendition of Mountain’s classic “Nantucket Sleighride.” The complete broadcast is presented here in professionally remastered sound with background notes and rare archival photos…….~

Amazing find! If you know Felix Pappalardi,..this is a “must have”. Fans of Leslie West and Mountain, I highly recommend this!…. Benedict Kazirskis…..~

A live recording featuring late Cream producer and Mountain bassist/producer Felix Pappalardi during his stint with the Japanese band Creation is available as Travelling in the Dark: Live… Denver, ’76.
The recording was made at Denver’s Ebbets Field club on July 30, 1976, and broadcast on KCUV-FM. Even though the set featured his work with Creation, it also includes a 20-minute version of Mountain’s “Nantucket Sleighride.”….~

In 1971 Blues Creation edits his latest album, “Blues Creation Live”. Two years later Takeda forms a new band, Creation, and they make a tour of Japan as support band for Mountain. Felix Pappalardi is impressed with the interpretive force of the band. In 1975 they publish their first album, “Creation”, with a cover that nowadays would not be very well seen. There were naked children urinating. At the end of the year Pappalardi decided to help the group in the recording of their second album. He invites them to his home in Nantucket, Massachusetts and both he and his wife, Gail Collins, are fully involved in the composition of the topics. The recording sees the light in April of 1976, “Creation with Felix Pappalardi”. They would still release a live album, “Pure Electric Soul” (1977), before separating.

Kazuo Takeda continued releasing solo albums, more than twenty and working as a session musician. For his part Felix Pappalardi continued as a producer until he was killed by his wife in 1983.
The recording shows the Creation concert at the Ebbets Field club in Denver on July 30, 1976. The performance was broadcasted by the local radio station KCUV-FM. As for music, we find an almost perfect replica of the Mountain, and if we take into account that one of its members, Felix Pappalardi, is on the bass, the circle closes perfectly. Listening to songs like “Preachers’ Daughters”, “Secret Power”, “Dark Eyed Lady Of The Night” or “High Heeled Sneakers” we seem to hear the very same Leslie West. And to top it off, a version of more than twenty minutes of the mythical theme of the Long Island band, “Nantucket Sleighride”. Crowd of riff loaded with distortion emulating the great Leslie. Without forgetting the relaxed blues to the Clapton in “….JC Miñana…..~
