Los Papos ‎"I See You Very Lonely" 1971 EP Mexico Psych Rock

full EP in mixcloud

Through the courses of San Juan de Dios, Federico Cedillo Becerra, aka El Papo, formed a group that was initially named Grupo Náhuatl, which has nothing to do with the one that emerged in the seventies. Likewise, he had been part of other groups such as Los McCoy's and Los Nerys, by 1966.
The first training was the following:

Federico El Papo Cedillo Becerra: Voice and guitar
Rogelio El Papo Chico Cedillo Becerra: Keyboards
Arturo Aguilera: Bass
Rodolfo Romero: guitar
Javier El Diablo Rodríguez: Battery

Due to the nicknames of the Cedillo brothers, they began to identify themselves as "Los Papos", and they got the name. Later they were joined by another vocalist to interpret the songs in English, called Javier ' El Greñas ' Pérez Torres.

Thanks to their good rhythm and growing popularity, they soon alternated with other major groups such as the Gibson Boys, Stone Facade, Spiders, The Blue Jeans, The Brotherhood or the newly formed Emiliano Zapata Revolution.

His first stage was more instrumental rock, playing themes of the Ventures, Shadows or Santo and Johnny, and were presented in various venues including the University of Guadalajara and the Normal School of Jalisco.

They recorded an Extended Play album in Discos Orfeón as well as a simple disc with the subjects 'I see you very lonely' and 'Everybody stone together', both published in 1971.

The opportunity to record these songs was thanks to a presentation on Channel 58, which also made them participate in other TV programs such as Move All and Marking the Step, both of the local Channel 4. Thanks to the support of the radio station, and the listeners, they earn that right to record the two above-mentioned topics. After recording the album and in the absence of promotion, they split up. It's a very weird record and I guess it must be hard to get it.

The papos posing 3For 1971, a singer joined to start singing in English, and his training was as follows:

The Papo (Guitar)
Rogelio (Keyboards)
Arturo (Low)
Rodolfo (Harmony)
The Devil (Battery) and
Javier Pérez Torres 'El greñas' (Vocalist)

It is with this group, that they re-recorded some tracks for a record of the brand "REX", along with themes from other groups such as Los Primos, Los Terrys and La Joya Brass.

Unfortunately, this group did not have much regularity due to the constant absences of Rodolfo but they did not run it, due to their close friendship (it was supplied by a musician from Tijuana, from whom data is no longer available). Even so, they continued to appear in various places such as El Casino Español, El Club de Leones, El Círculo Francés and the Harlequin Casino, among others.

In the end, it is until 1973 when the group lasts because some dedicated themselves to finish their careers and begin to dedicate themselves to their profession, they got married and only 'El Papo', Rodolfo and Arturo, got to continue in the musical medium....~
