Ankh was a French group from Normandy (Les Andelys in Eure), created in autumn 1974 by Fabrice Baty (guitar), Renaud Thorez (bass) and Michel Chevalier (drums). Here's a retrospective album including the 2 tracks from their ultra rare single and tracks from the ultra rare LP 'Guitares' by Fabrice Baty, plus 4 unreleased tracks. From heavy-prog to surf-prog featuring experimental guitar, this album is a long overdue showcase for excellent guitar playing....~

A group of guitarist and hacker Fabrice Baty, ANKH was born in 1974 in Les Andelys, in Normandy, a hundred km north west of Paris. Between prog rock and the craziest psychedelia, the group will only release a 45rpm in 1976 with Renaud Thorez on bass, freshly arrived following the departure of Philippe Briard. The two men know each other well (Renaud and Fabrice), they played together in Cafard, their first group. In 4 years of existence, the notoriety of the quartet has never really crossed the borders of Eure, even of Upper Normandy. An album was however in preparation which turned into a simple 45rpm for lack of sufficient cash. Today, the Vinyl Vidi Vici label unearths this SP accompanied by pieces from “Guitars”, Fabrice Baty's solo album released in 1973 and previously unreleased tracks.....~
